Runcam will be an official partner for DJI’s Digital FPV system after Caddx! Exciting news really, quite a few major RC vendors have been notified about this, but products won’t be available for another 2-3 months, so official announcement should follow.
Hopefully in the future there will be more options when it comes to camera and VTX for the DJI FPV system.
Runcam Vista?
Yes, Runcam will be selling the Vista and Nebula Pro too, but they will be under different names most likely.
I’ve been told the Runcam MIPI will continue to work, and hopefully more cameras for the DJI FPV system will be made available in the future.
Update (5th Oct 2021): Runcam released their version of the Vista, Runcam Link, along with a new camera, the Phoenix HD.
Background
If you are not familiar with DJI FPV System eco-system and history, here’s a very brief introduction.
DJI only offers the full size FPV Air Unit (with camera) when it was first released. It’s quite bulky and heavy and therefore it’s not the most popular choice for FPV drones.
Few months later, Caddx partnered with DJI and released the much smaller and lighter Vista VTX, Nebula Nano and Nebula Pro cameras.
In late 2020, Runcam released the Racer 4, and in early 2021, the Runcam MIPI, both support the DJI FPV system. Both times Caddx threatened to lock out 3rd party cameras by implementing encryption but caused backlash from the community (although encryption was never implemented and those cameras were never blocked). Not sure if the partnership has anything to do with those events, anyway it’s great for the community as there will be more options to choose from.
Are you looking forward to this new partnership? What kind of new cameras or product you want to see from Runcam? Let us know in the comment below.

I’m happy with nebula pro, even the first ( dji cam ) its better, but they’re identical i think. Imho.
So runcam will be a good competitor,
But as we know, runcam always give us a a little bit over saturated image on the analog cam, but i hope in digital, they’re make a good cam.
That’s great news Oscar! It’s also nice to see how we can influence the smaller vendors a bit (encryption thingy).
I hope they find a decent 120fps sensor chip with good availability soon.
What about some hybrid of a decent enough lens and Y cable to vista + onboard recording (in almost naked gopro quality?). greets, Mario
Great news
Please make a good night vision camera compatible.
Sounds great*
this is great news for the hobby in general.
I would love to see another 1080p low latency camera idk what size tbh! Thanks for the news Oscar!
I don’t think I’ve seen any third party vista or air unit camera beat the quality of the DJI FPV camera. I know Bardwell said there was a better one but the footage I saw said otherwise. Is there a clear leader?
Yes yes
It should be like that from the very beginning
This is great news as long as caddx is going to be a partner still (unless they don’t want to?) I’m all for more options. Consumers spoke here and we said we want more options not less. The reason why it’s so hard to find the DJI system components in stock is because there are only a handful of products in production. Anolog Fpv has 100’s of options in comparison.
The original DJI camera is very good compared to some of the others that have fixed parameters such as frame rate and White Balance the DJI camera via the Goggles menus gives adjustment of most things I need, I hope this partnership will mean bug fixes, updates and improvements to the system as required, having Runcam involved tells me they see a future for it as a system.
